See Dublin by horse and carriage

The city the way it was meant to be seen. Horse-drawn carriage tours of Dublin, driven by the Mulreanny family for over thirty years — Georgian squares, cathedrals and the brewery gates at a walking pace, with someone who actually knows the place doing the talking.

Every price we quote is for the whole carriage — not per person. You will be told the full price before the horse moves, and it will not change.

The Lord Mayor’s horses

Our Dutch Friesians draw the Lord Mayor of Dublin’s state carriage on St Patrick’s Day, and we have supplied Dublin City Council for the opening day of the RDS Dublin Horse Show for over fifteen years.

Seen on screen

Period carriages, horses and drivers for film and television across Ireland and the UK — Vikings, Ripper Street, Penny Dreadful among them.

One price, per carriage

You are told the full price before the horse moves, and it covers the whole carriage. Never a surprise per-person charge at the end of the ride.

Choose your tour

Every tour can be shortened, lengthened or rerouted — tell us what you want to see and we will build the ride around it. Pick-up from your hotel door if that suits you better.

What do you see on a Dublin carriage tour?

The carriages are convertible, so weather never cancels a tour. Brass lamps are fitted for evening work and there are blankets on board when the wind comes up the quays.

More than tours

The same horses and carriages work weddings, film sets and family occasions the length of the country.

He went over and above to make our carriage ride so special. We were taken on a really interesting tour around Dublin and saw some lovely places including the Guinness factory. Nothing is too much trouble for David and we would recommend him to anyone. It was very reasonably priced and David is very knowledgeable.

Three generations on the reins

Mulreanny's Carriages has been carrying people around Dublin since 1994. David Mulreanny has held a Dublin carriage licence for more than twenty years and has spent his whole life around these horses, as did his father before him.

It is a small operation on purpose. You deal with David when you ring, David when you book, and David on the box seat when the day comes.
